Structure and dynamics of phosphorus (V)-stabilized carbanions: a comparison of theoretical, crystallographic, and solution structures

Analysis of the rotational coordinates around the P-C bond in four distinct phosphorus(V)-substituted methyl anions revealed a pair of local minima in the case of constraint-free amino substituents on phosphorus. Effects on the rotation coordinate were more substantial when the amino groups were restricted to local geometries resembling those observed in diazaphosphorinanes.
