Abstract
- The Society of the Plastics Industry (SPI) is planning to implement proposed changes in the plastics resin identification coding on plastic containers despite opposition from the National Recycling Coalition (NRC). The NRC wants a four-sided figure to replace the chasing arrows symbol instead of the solid triangle recommended by the SPI. Changes in the SPI coding system are intended to facilitate plastics recycling and enable the plastics industry to effectively address environmental regulations.
