Abstract

Nitrogen atmosphere helps prepare bis(acrylic acid)tetraammineosmium(II) bis(hexafluorophosphate). NMR spectrum and elemental analysis demonstrate the bis-substituted formulation. Acid-base titrations determine pKa values. Spectrophotometric measurements determine the rate of aquation. Magnetic susceptibility measurements reveal the paramagnetic nature of the products obtained in the acid catalyzed aquation.
