Abstract
- Evidence of catalytic [O.sub.2] evolution from water induced by adsorption of [(O[H.sub.2])(terpy)Mn[([mu]-O).sub.2]Mn(terpy)(O[H.sub.2]).sup.3+], where terpy = 2,2':6 ,2'-terpyridine, onto solid clay is illustrated. It shows that the concentration and localization of [(O[H.sub.2])(terpy)Mn[([mu]-O).sub.2]Mn(terpy)(O[H.sub.2]).sup.3+] adsorbed on clay as well as the distance between anionic sites on clay statistically related to its cation exchange capacity are the important factors for the cooperative catalysis.
