Morphometric analysis of pulmonary intracapillary leukocyte pools in ex vivo-perfused rabbit lungs

Computer-assisted morphometric analysis of the washout kinetics of various pulmonary intracapillary leukocytes pools in ex vivo-perfused rabbit lungs shows that half of the leukocyte types reside in the lung microvasculature even after high extracorporeal buffer perfusion. Cells with large pool size influence the basic characteristics of isolated-perfused and transplanted lungs.
