Gypsy studies on the move

There is growing interest in studying the culture of the Roma or the gypsy, the largest minority group in Europe. Scholars specializing in Romani language and culture such as Milena Hubschmannova also became defenders of the Romas' rights. They try to promote education and overall development of the Romas. Attempts have been made to provide Romas some autonomy, which was curbed during the communist regime.
