Abstract

Doppler-shifted OH velocimetry helps image velocity distributions in supersonic combustion gases close to and above atmospheric pressure. An alteration in this process that elevates the single-pulse laser bandwidth increases the intra-image velocity dynamic range and decreases the sensitivity of velocity estimations to gas property changes. Time-regulated imaging estimations of the flow provide relative velocity precision of plus or minus 50 m/s out of 1600 m/s over a range of magnitude variation in pressure and 2-factor variation in temperature.
