Abstract
- The immature-to-mother social distance in two Mexican mantled howler monkey troops inhabiting a tropical rainforest fragment at Los Tuxtlas, Veracruz, Mexico is analyzed applying instantaneous sampling method to record the behavior and distances between the immatures and their mothers, and between immatures and non mother individuals. Findings suggest that in this low-activity species, the development of the immature is associated with a complex set of relationships with other troop members.
