On the observability of -SiH vibrational stretch on solid objects in the solar system

The implantation of H+ into silicon, palagonite, feldspar and quartz yields the development of the -SiH stretching band. This indicates that observation of spectral features of asteroids and comets caused by SiH is not possible. H+ ions implanted onto comets and asteroids yields SiH that do not produce the band produced by proton implantation-formed SiH.
