Abstract

70-kD heat-shock proteins (hsp70) are involved in the peroxisomal import of proteins in mammals. The hsp70 molecules are situated on the outer surface of the peroxisomal membrane and their concentration increases with the peroxisomal growth. Antibodies developed against hsp70 proteins inhibit the protein import that is overcome by exogenous hsp70 protein treatment.
