Research examines influence of fat, roughage levels on steer growth

Cattle growth due to dietary roughage was investigated to determine whether feed intake and growth is influenced energy dilution. Cattle were fed vary levels of roughage but dietary energy levels were kept constant through the addition of fat. The results showed that dietary roughage had a direct effect on feed intake and growth. Moreover, the effects of dietary roughage level on feed intake was not solely the result of the dilution of energy density.
