Execs predict: 1995 won't repeat 94's records

Abstract

Heating, ventilating, air conditioning and refrigerating equipment (hvacr) manufacturers will not be able to maintain their record-breaking 1994 shipment levels in 1995. Most of the reason for this slowdown in shipment activity is attributed to higher-than-normal distributor inventories. For example, 1st qtr 1995 unitary equipment inventory levels are 20% higher than the levels in 1st qtr 1994. Weather could also impact shipping levels. However, the market for hvacr manufacturers should remain strong as a result of continued strength in the construction industry's recovery.<br />As the industry prepares for the upcoming International Air-Conditioning, Heating, Refrigerating Exposition in Chicago later this month, the picture for industry performance in 1995 is confused, at best.
