'PLATE': a decision support system for resource constrained scheduling problems

The development of PLATE, an interactive decision support system (DSS), by the computer science faculty at the Netherlands' Eindhoven University of Technology is described. The DSS, which runs on an IBM desktop using MS-DOS V3.3, was designed to solve resource-constrained project scheduling problems. It incorporates a manual planning module in addition to its automatic schedule generation function.
