Synthesis and photovoltaic properties of efficient organic dyes containing the benzo[b]furan moiety for solar cells

The synthesis and the photovoltaic properties of a large number of efficient organic dyes, which consist of the benzo[b]furan moiety is studied. The analysis shows that the dyes are prepared by a one-pot coupling cyclization step, which makes it useful for various applications like the fabrication of a nanocrystalline Ti[O.sub.2] dye-sensitized solar cell.
