Abstract

The carbon fluxes in the central metabolism of Geobacter metallireducens strain GS-15 were analyzed using [super 13]C isotopomer modeling. The results indicated that Geobacter metallireducens strain GS-15 utilizes the complete TCA cycle to oxidize acetate to C[O.sub.2] while reducing soluble Fe(III)-nitrilotriacetic acid.
