Abstract
- A general and convenient method for the synthesis of 2-(hydroxyalkyl)-5-methylenecyclopentenones through the Morita-Baylis-Hillman reaction of a masked 5-alkylidene-2-cyclopentenone followed by the flash vacuum pyrolysis of the resulting adduct is described.
