Abstract

The structural and functional analogy between difluoromethylene bisphosphonate (C[F.sub.2]PP) and pyrophosphate (P[P.sub.i]) is examined in a reaction with V(V) in the form of vanadate. The results have shown that P[P.sub.i]'s affinity for a metal ion at neutral pH has decreased by a factor 4-5 when the bridging oxygen atoms is substituted with C[F.sub.2].
