Abstract

The syntheses of Mn doped Si nanoparticles and the characterization of their optical and magnetic properties are described. The radiative trap sites in Si nanoparticles are attributed to nonquantized surface states and hence the electron transfer from deep Si traps has shown that [Mn.sup.2+] is coupled to the Si surface.
