Abstract
- The dependence of spectral line shape on sample-probe reactions are determined using an analytical model. The model uses a focused probe to study the discrete sampling of spatial property changes in spectra. The model reveals that probe channeling near the free surface and gradient-stimulated line broadening are the primary causes for the influence exerted by sample probe reactions on the shape of spectral lines.
