Abstract
- The operatic arrangements of 1886 in St. Louis featured many companies which provided a good amount of entertainment. The season opened with Colonel James Henry Mapleson's opera company, which was the cause of much entertainment and controversies when he changed the bill and his star singer at the last minute. After his company came Herman Grau's company followed by Miss Goldsticker and lastly American Opera Company which led to the moralistic debate about ballet.
