Will Part D produce savings in Part A and Part B? The impact of prescription drug coverage on medicare program expenditures

The study was conducted to determine the relationship between prescription drug coverage for Medicare beneficiaries, and lower expenditure for hospital services. Results show that drug coverage does not necessarily affect Medicare spending for hospital or physician services, although drug coverage increases expenditures on medications.
