Abstract

Environmentalists are becoming increasingly concerned about the changing climate worldwide due to global warming. The frequency of extreme climatic events, such as the record numbers of storms, floods and droughts witnessed globally, is increasing. The weather in the United Kingdom during November 1994-February 1995 was the warmest it has been since records began in the 1860s. Worldwide crop production is being affected. Global temperatures are expected to increase by 1 degree C by the year 2040, the quickest rate of warming since the Ice Age 8,000 years BC.
