Abstract

Two-dimensional finite elementary method is used for examining the stability margin of a conduction-cooled low temperature superconducting (LTS) pulse coil with stored energy of 1 MJ. Results suggest that the 1 MJ coil has a large stability margin, which is eight times the rated ac loss.
