Abstract
- A set of models are presented to examine the effect of sustained animal vigilance and performance in relation to foraging activity. The allocation of time between foraging activity and rest and the length of each foraging episode were considered. The results revealed longer foraging time and rest for demanding foraging activities and increased as the tasks become more difficult. This suggests that vigilance is a factor that determines temporal patterns of animal behavior.
