Abstract

MCI manager Bill Callahan believes that switched multimegabit data service (SMDS) technology is experiencing a growth that runs parallel to that of frame relay. However, Callahan feels that SMDS is more advanced compared to frame relay. The SMDS Interest Group reported that International Data Corp. statistics revealed a 50% increase in the use of and the revenues generated by SMDS since 1994. However, the future of SMDS is still uncertain.
