Abstract
- The costs to the United Kingdom of road use, noise, accidents, pollution and traffic congestion stand at 30 billion pounds sterling or more each year. The public must change its travelling habits as traffic levels are officially expected to double by the year 2025. A transport revolution is required. Ways of achieving this include establishing a public transport agency, improving roads via tax funds, establishing transport exchanges, improving freight traffic, assisting non-drivers and improving rural isolation. Measures to improve traffic are examined.
