Abstract

Global oil demand is expected to grow to 110 million b/d by 2025 from 84 million b/d in 2005 with the U.S. accounting for a quarter of that demand. The task force created under the Energy Policy Act of 2005 has described a plan to speed up commercial development of unconventional fuels such as oil shale, tar sands and liquids-from-coal.
