Abstract
- The three-dimensional solution structure of an RNA-binding domain of the Rev protein produced from human immunodeficiency virus (type 1) is studied by using nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy. The Rev protein is necessary for the replication of the virus. The studies of Rev response element (RRE) shows that RRE forms a widened groove enclosing the helical peptide. Also, an amino acid chain necessary for binding forms hydrogen bonds with the phosphate backbone of the RNA. The experimental procedure and results of the structural analysis are discussed.
