Abstract: The trial test results of eltrombopag, a new orally active thrombopoietin-receptor agonist that elevates platelets counts in normal and in patients with immune thormobocytopenia is presented. The drug was found to be effective therapy to increase the platelet count, permitting for antiviral treatment of patients with thrombocytopenia and cirrhosis associated with the hepatitis C virus.
