Abstract

A Gallup survey conducted Aug 7-13, 1995, found that 35% of Canadians beleive that abortion should be legal under any circumstances, while 13% oppose abortion regardless of circumstances. Only 31% said abortion should always be legal in 1993. Nearly half, 49%, of those polled said that abortion should be legal in a limited number of situations. Asked to give examples of situations in which abortion should be allowed, 95% named cases when a pregnancy threatens the mother and 88% cited situations resulting from rape or incest.
