Abstract

A novel lipophilic tetranuclear copper phosphonate possessing an unprecedented double-four-ring (D4R) core structure is prepared. The tetranuclear cage has functioned as a very effective artificial nuclease in the presence of an external oxidant, magnesium monoperoxyphthalate.
