Abstract

The synthesis, crystal structures, and variable-temperature solid luminescence of copper(I) trimer, [[Cu(Ppz)].sub.3] and a polymer, {[[Cu(Ppz)].sub.3][[CuCN].sub.3]} both containing the [Cu(Ppz)].sub.3] entity as a building block are described. The products are obtained by solvothermal reactions of 4(pyrid-4'-yl)-3,5-dimethylpyrazole (HPpz) with CuBr in two mixed solvents, N[H.sub.3]*[H.sub.2]O/EtOH and N[H.sub.3]*[H.sub.2]O/MeCN.
