Abstract
- A Mendelian form of hypertension called glucocorticoid-remediable aldosteronism occurs due to mutations causing ectopic expression of aldosterone synthase enzymatic activity. Liddle syndrome, the Mendelian form of hypertension is activated due to the mutations in the beta subunit of the amiloride-sensitive epithelial sodium channel. The general variants at the angiotensinogen locus are responsible for the pathogenesis of the required hypertension in Caucasian subjects.
