Minerals play pivotal role in current, future papermaking trends

Makers of coated paper are using increasing quantities of minerals, including calcium carbonate, according to Harry Bigelow, VP of Technology for Omya Inc. Bigelow reports that paper with multiple coatings is produced more often in Europe than in the US. Predictions for the industry include increased production of aseptic packaging for food products.
