Abstract

Multiple service providers who sell an opaque product through an intermediary, are modeled. Selling an opaque product, whose identity is concealed until after the purchase is made, increases the degree of price rivalry and reduces total industry profit in industries where there is little brand-loyalty. Other significant results of the study are also presented.
