Abstract

A novel kinetic model involving 123I-hippuran renography is a suitable method to determine variations in intrarenal blood flow distribution. Alterations in the intrarenal blood flow are initiated by the infusion of placebo, angiotensin I or atrial natriuretic factor. Although the infusion of placebo reduces the medullary blood flow, infusion of atrial natriuretic factor slightly increases the medullary blood flow. The absolute and percent variations in medullary blood flow are consistent with those measured by microspheres.
