Abstract

Irradiated semi-conductor particles used to remove pollutants and microorganisms behave according to the principles of photocatalysis. TiO2 is used as a photocatalyst in paints and pigments. Toxic metal ions are effectively removed by the addition of substances that are hole scavengers. Photocatalytic activities have a square root dependence on photon-flux effects. The photocatalytic activities of TiO2 are discussed.
