Epidemiology and treatment of painful procedures in neonates in intensive care units

The study presents epidemiological data on painful neonatal procedures and corresponding analgesic therapy, collected over several months in a geographically defined region and based on direct bedside observation of neonates. Results show that a large number of painful and stressful procedures were performed, most of them without analgesia.
