Liberals maintain stranglehold on federal party standings

Support for Liberals in Canada has increased since Dec 1995, from 51% to 55% in Feb 1996. The standings of other parties have remained virtually unchanged, except for the Conservatives, whose support has dropped from 14% in Jan 1996 to 11% in Feb. Liberals support comes from voter majorities in Atlantic Canada, Western Canada, and Ontario, but the Bloc Quebecois hold 54% to the Liberals 41% of the voters' support in Quebec.
