Bare majority approve of Chretien

The approval rating of Canadian Prime Minister Jean Chretien has declined since Dec 1995, especially in his home province of Quebec. Chretien's approval rating fell from 59% in Nov 1995 to 54% in Dec 1995, and reached 51% in Mar 1996. His approval rating was higher among better educated, higher paid, older people who speak English as their first language. People in Ontario gave Chretien the highest ratings. The lowest rating Chretien has received since his election and from Jan 1994 was 50% in Jan 1996.
