Abstract
- Unemployment has remained a major concern for Canadians since 1992 and, since the Quebec referendum in Nov 1995, has again risen to the top problem facing Canada in Jan 1996. Except for British Columbia, where unemployment and the government deficit tied at 27%, unemployment ranked as the top national problem among 33% of Canadians. Canadians also feel the Liberal Party is the most capable of solving economic problems, such as the deficit and unemployment, but the party's rating rises and falls with the national unity issue.
