Abstract

A study was conducted to examine the mechanism by which a mutation in NPPA could lead to a familial atrial fibrillation. Findings indicated that in families with atrial fibrillation, investigators have identified mutations in ion channels that are predicted to shorten or lengthen the duration of cardiac action potentials.
