Abstract

Gay author Dale Peck feels that heterosexuals do not read books which are labelled 'gay' since they are not reviewed outside the gay press. Through his writings, he wants to reveal the complicated connection between autobiography and fiction. He regards heterosexuals as a bad audience, since their involvement in choosing a book is less personal than that of gay readers. He feels he is unable to connect political activism with complex fiction politics. He contends that his book on heterosexuality is based on his imagination, his experiences of the world, and heterosexual porn.
