Abstract
- Heil Co. sought the help of its suppliers, Dana Corp.'s Weatherhead Division and Gresen Hydraulics, to improve the performance of its mobile hydraulic systems and components. A systems design methodology was implemented to achieve longer product life and leakage reduction at less cost and manufacturing time. The end result was a system design for Heil's products in which various hydraulic components are coordinated for better equipment operation.<br />Among the many types of mobile equipment that utilize hydraulics, there are few that provide as many challenges to the system designer as refuse collection vehicles.
