Abstract
- A Gallup survey conducted Apr. 9-15, 1996 found that 54% of Canadians approve of Prime Minister Jean Chretien's job performance, an increase of 3% over Mar., while 32% disapprove. Although 70% of Ontario citizens approve of Chretien, only 30% of Quebecers agree. His approval ratings are higher among the wealthier and more educated segments of society, as he enjoys the support of 62% of college-educated Canadians and 65% of the $70,000+ income bracket. While only 29% of French speakers approve of him, he is supported by 63% and 65% of the anglophones and allophones, respectively.
