Active and passive immunotherapy for neurodegenerative disorders

The development and advantages of several safer active and passive immunotherapeutic approaches for the treatment of the neurodegenerative diseases in humans are discussed. The direct antibody-mediated disruption of aggregates and the neutralization of toxic soluble proteins are shown to be few of the mechanisms that play a significant role in these therapies.
