Abstract

The article discusses the development of cultured keratinocytes for the treatment of burns, ocular diseases and gene therapy and how government regulations are curtailing further research. The American regulatory authorities termed the cultured grafts as xenografts since 3T3 mouse cells were used for the multiplication of keratinocytes and raised doubts about the growth of a mouse virus in any leftover irradiated 3T3 cells.
