New leader takes the helm

Pulitzer Publishing Co. has appointed Cole C. Campbell as the managing editor of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch newspaper. The former editor of the Norfolk Virginian-Pilot has a reputation for supporting public journalism and has a collaborative approach to management. Campbell has to reverse dwindling readership and sagging single-copy sales at the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, and must earn the loyalty and respect of the newspaper staff in order to succeed. The paper has daily circulation of approximately 316,000.
