Half of Canadians approve of Chretien

A Gallup poll conducted July 9-14, 1996, revealed that with the month of July showed little change in the approval rating of about 50% of Prime Minister Jean Chretien's performance which has been in effect since the beginning of the year. May's approval rating of 47% was an all time low for Chretien. Three in ten or 30% of Canadians disapprove of the Prime Minister's record this month, a decrease from the 36% who disapproved during the previous two months.
