Abstract
- Previous research has shown that the destruction of large aggregate particles plays several important roles in the sea. However, the incorporation of this process into existing models of aggregate dynamics has not been possible because of the lack of a rigorous method to facilitate such incorporation. To remedy this problem, the population-balance approach to modelling floc breakage is used to model the effect of aggregation on particle-size distributions.
